What is an airdrop?

An airdrop is a distribution of tokens to a group of wallet addresses, usually free of charge. Projects use them to raise awareness, reward early supporters or encourage people to try a network.

How it works

Eligibility often depends on holding a certain token, using an application, or simply being an active wallet by a set snapshot date. Some airdrops require a small action, such as claiming the tokens from a website.

Things to watch

Airdrops are also used as bait in scams. Be cautious with unexpected tokens that appear in your wallet, and never connect your wallet or share your seed phrase to claim one.
