What is a block?

A block is a file that stores a group of confirmed transactions on a blockchain. Each block includes a reference to the one before it, which is what links them into a continuous chain.

Why it matters

Once a block is added and confirmed, changing its contents becomes extremely difficult, because doing so would break the links to every block that follows. This is a core reason blockchains are hard to tamper with.
