What is a CASP?

A Crypto Asset Service Provider, or CASP, is a business that offers services such as buying, selling, transferring or storing crypto on behalf of customers. Exchanges and custodians are common examples.

Why it matters

Many regions now require CASPs to register with a regulator and follow rules on identity checks, record keeping and reporting. This brings crypto services closer in line with other financial businesses.
