What is a node?

A node is a computer that takes part in a blockchain network by holding a copy of the ledger and helping to validate transactions and blocks. Nodes talk to one another to keep the network in sync.

Why it matters

A network with many nodes spread widely is more decentralised and resilient, since there is no single point of failure. Full nodes enforce the network’s rules by checking everything for themselves.
